History

For half a century, Daiichi Eizai has been
bringing Japan-quality specialized absorbent products to the world
from our home in northern Shikoku,
one of Japan’s leading paper-producing regions

With production located in the city of Kan-onji, Kagawa Prefecture, since its founding in 1965 Daiichi Eizai Co., Ltd. has continued to research, develop and manufacture specialized absorbent products for more than half a century in a region blessed with clean water and rich natural resources, always aiming to achieve the highest levels of quality anywhere in Japan.

1965~

  • 1965

    Daiichi Eizai Co., Ltd. is founded Motoichi Hoshikawa appointed president

  • 1967

    Head office factory expanded

  • 1968

    Yamamoto factory built
    Introduced Starnap, the industry’s first individually wrapped sanitary napkin

  • 1969

    Introduced Star brand disposable diapers (adult disposable diapers)

  • 1977

    Began production of pet toilet sheets

  • 1978

    Introduced the first sanitary napkin in Japan to use high-absorbency polymer

  • 1985

    Established an automated warehouse

1990~

  • 1990

    Introduced nursing care brand FREENE (adult disposable diapers)

  • 1994

    Mitsuhiro Hoshikawa appointed president
    Marine oil adsorbent material obtains Ministry of Land, Infrastructure,
    Transport and Tourism type certification

    Introduced incontinence pads for adults

2000~

  • 2001

    Introduced SANSA LAND brand of industrial materials

  • 2004

    Introduced pet toilet pads and pet sanitary napkins

  • 2005

    Introduced C&F brand of industrial materials

  • 2007

    Introduced pet pad band (Patented)

  • 2008

    Introduced P.one pet brand

  • 2008

    Introduced a urine absorbent pad (Patented)

  • 2009

    Gifu factory opened

    Introduced pocket-type incontinence pad for men (Patented)
    Introduced pet diapers
    Introduced a 200 cm x 90 cm absorbent sheet, the largest such sheet in Japan

  • 2011

    Introduced a belted disposable diaper for (male) dogs (Patented)
    Launched Cotton 100, Japan’s first sanitary napkin designed for sensitive skin

  • 2012

    Launched third-party logistics (3PL) with logistics centers in Aichi, Osaka,
    Okayama and Fukuoka

  • 2015

    50th anniversary New head office building completed

  • 2017

    Yamamoto factory renovated

  • 2017

    Introduced SHIRAYURI funerary brand
